February 12, 2023
NCLR Editor Margaret Bauer will be a special guest on Wordplay on Asheville FM 103.3 on February 12, 2023, at 5:00. In addition to talking about NCLR and her own writing and teaching work, she’ll discuss the Alex Albright Creative Nonfiction Prize, which will be open for submissions January 15 through March 1, 2023.
Wordplay features poets and creative prose writers, sometimes in performance, and sometimes in conversation about their craft and ideas. It is co-hosted by writer and teacher Lockie Hunter, a finalist in NCLR‘s 2022 Albright contest. NCLR published her essay “My Grandmother’s Love Letters” in the fall 2022 issue of NCLR Online; another will be in the winter online issue and the third in fall online 2023 issues.
The Alex Albright Creative Nonfiction Prize was created in 2015 to honor the founding editor of the North Carolina Literary Review. The first Albright Prize winner was published in the 25th issue of NCLR in 2016. The competition requires no submission fee, but writers must subscribe to NCLR to submit. Either the writer or the subject matter of the submission must have some North Carolina connection. Learn more at https://nclr.ecu.edu/submissions/albright-guidelines/
